A Little About Me

My name is Alan O’Dowd and I am a Wedding and Portrait photographer based in Balbriggan, Dublin and Ireland.

As far as I can remember back I think I always had an interest in Photography, from borrowing my dad’s polaroid camera at a young age to making scrapbooks up with pictures from magazines I’d find lying around the house. It was only when I got my first compact digital camera in the early 2000’s that things really took off. I was never without it, I went everywhere with it. I switched the compact for a Canon EOS 40D a few years after… a defining moment you could call it.
I studied Photography and Photoshop at The Institute of Photography in Dublin under Dave Mckane, an amazing Photographer and teacher, this really opened my eyes to the possibilities.

Taking the step into Wedding Photography and Portrait Photography was a no brainer for me. My wife, Ingrid Madsen is a well established Church and Wedding singer and I’ve always loved hearing her making plans with couples about their Wedding day and how she would feed off their energy. To me Photography and Wedding Photography is more than a job it’s a passion.
